Strengthening Political Leadership of Women in Gram Panchayats
- To ensure inclusive and gender-sensitive local governance, focused efforts are being made to strengthen the political leadership of women representatives in Gram Panchayats. This includes:
- Capacity Building Workshops to enhance knowledge on Panchayati Raj functions, budget allocation, and policy implementation.
- Leadership and Communication Training to empower elected women with skills in public speaking, negotiation, and decision-making.
- Mentorship and Peer Learning Platforms to promote confidence and continuous learning through interaction with experienced women leaders.
- These initiatives aim to transform women from symbolic representatives into active change-makers driving grassroots development.
Enhancing Women’s Participation in Community-Based Institutions
- Women’s voices and participation are being actively promoted in various Community-Based Institutions (CBIs) such as:
- Self-Help Groups (SHGs)
- Village Health Sanitation and Nutrition Committees (VHSNCs)
- School Management Committees (SMCs)
- Water User Associations and other local forums
- By ensuring equal representation and meaningful engagement, these efforts seek to amplify women’s roles in local planning, implementation, and monitoring of development initiatives. Special focus is given to marginalized and vulnerable women to build a truly inclusive community framework.
