Camel Health & Vaccination Camps
In mid-2024, Planet Nurture Foundation conducted large-scale camel vaccination and awareness camps across western Rajasthan covering Nagaur, Degana, Merta, and six blocks in Alwar district. These efforts aimed to safeguard camel herds and revive the livelihoods of traditional breeders.
Over 750 camels were vaccinated, and more than 600 camel herders were educated on nutrition, disease prevention, and herd management techniques. This initiative improved both camel health and income sustainability.
The sessions included best practices in parasite control, shelter improvement, and organic feeding. For many herders, this was the first structured training in animal care they had received.
By protecting the "Ship of the Desert," the Foundation preserved a vital cultural and economic resource—supporting Rajasthan’s heritage and enhancing rural livelihoods.
