NRM as part of Sustainable Agricultural Development

At Planet Nurture Foundation, Natural Resource Management (NRM) is at the core of our approach to sustainable agricultural development. By integrating traditional knowledge with modern eco-friendly practices, we aim to restore soil health, conserve water, and ensure long-term productivity for small and marginal farmers.

  • Promotion of Organic Farming: We train farmers in organic practices that reduce chemical input, improve soil fertility, and produce healthier food. Composting, bio-fertilizers, and natural pest control methods are promoted to enhance sustainability and reduce costs.

  • Land Treatment for Soil and Water Conservation: Contour bunding, trenching, and mulching techniques are implemented to reduce soil erosion and retain moisture. These treatments restore degraded land and increase its agricultural potential, especially in rain-fed regions.

  • Development of Water Harvesting Structures: We support the construction of farm ponds, check dams, and rooftop rainwater harvesting systems. These structures help recharge groundwater, provide irrigation during dry spells, and reduce dependency on erratic rainfall.
