Legal Empowerment of Women and Girls

Planet Nurture Foundation is firmly committed to the Legal Empowerment of Women and Girls, ensuring they are aware of their rights, protected under the law, and capable of asserting their voice in society. Legal literacy is a powerful tool, and the foundation works to educate women and girls about their constitutional rights, legal protections, and access to justice.

Fortnight Action on Violence Against Women:As part of a dedicated initiative to combat violence against women, a Fortnight Action Campaign has been launched to raise awareness, provide support, and strengthen institutional response mechanisms. The campaign includes a multi-pronged approach targeting key areas of intervention and support.

Resource Centers for Women:Specialized Resource Centers for Women have been established to offer comprehensive assistance, including legal aid, psychological counseling, shelter support, and information dissemination. These centers serve as safe spaces for women to report violence and receive immediate help.

Counseling and Support Services:Counseling services are made available for women who are victims of physical, emotional, economic, or sexual violence. Professionally trained counselors offer trauma-informed care, empowering survivors to regain confidence and rebuild their lives.

Women Counseling Centers at Police Stations & District Collector Offices:To ensure timely and accessible support, Women Counseling Centers are functional at:

  • Police Stations – Facilitating immediate assistance and streamlined case registration.
  • District Collector Offices – Enabling access to district-level support mechanisms and fast-tracked grievance redressal.

These centers bridge the gap between survivors and law enforcement, offering a supportive environment for reporting and follow-up.

Police and Judiciary Community Interface:Special community interface programs are organized to enhance collaboration between the Police, Judiciary, and Citizens. These initiatives aim to:

  • Sensitize police and judicial officers on gender-based violence.
  • Improve survivor-centric case handling.
  • Strengthen public trust and cooperation in legal processes.

Lawyers’ Fellowship Programme:This programme engages young and committed lawyers to support survivors of violence through:

  • Legal aid services at the grassroots level.
  • Awareness drives in rural and urban communities.
  • Documentation and advocacy for policy reforms.

Training of Assistant Public Prosecutors:Capacity-building programs are conducted to equip Assistant Public Prosecutors with:

  • Gender sensitivity training.
  • Legal knowledge on laws protecting women.
  • Effective prosecution techniques for violence against women cases.
  • This ensures timely justice and reduces delays in legal proceedings.
